Raising Awareness For Our Homeless
Today, I’m featuring the 2nd music video from Travels for my song “Solitude”. For those who don’t know, I wrote that song 11 years ago after Mom died, as a reflection of the myriad of feelings I was going through. This version of the song is an abbreviated version for purposes of this video - the full-length version can be heard on the album. I filmed this piece in and around Santa Monica using a Panasonic Lumix 3 and edited it in Final Cut Pro.
With the current crisis we’re all living through, and even before that, I’ve noticed that our local homeless situation is growing worse and worse. It has been affecting me very much and just can’t imagine what our fellow humans are going through, having to deal with a pandemic, with no home in which to isolate and protect themselves. We are all SO lucky to have these basic necessities and I try to never take that for granted. That said, I’ve created this video as a nod to our fellow neighbors living on the streets and even though difficult to watch, it is my hope that this might raise some awareness to the gravity of the situation and move some viewers to reach out to their local organizations and help when they can. Maybe we can collectively do a little something to make it better.
Reach out, say hi to them, give them food, donate a blanket, pet food - anything you can think of. Donate to local homeless shelters, if you can. We’re all a village.
