Performing with Venice
Over the past 20+ years, I’ve had the pleasure of playing and recording with one of America’s best bands - Venice. Hailing from Venice, California, the band consists of 2 sets of brothers from the famous musical family, the Lennons - you may know them from their sisters/cousins - The Lennon Sisters. The band - Kipp and Pat Lennon - Lennon Sister’s younger brothers and their cousins, Michael and Mark Lennon are considered to be one of the best vocal bands in the country…often 1st call session singers here in LA and 1st choice among great artists like David Crosby and Jackson Browne - both whom we’ve played shows with over the years. I met these guys many years ago through my dear musical brother Scott Crago - drummer for the Eagles and Venice’s original drummer, and through Matt Laug - fantastic drummer who was playing with Venice at the time I joined the band. And because of Scott Crago, I eventually became the percussionist/vocalist for Glenn Frey - something I will always be eternally thankful to Scott, for introducing me to the late Eagles founder. Both of these guys I’m forever indebted to for introducing me to my now life-long friends and colleagues. Some of the best experiences in my life have been with Venice. I’ve recorded on multiple albums of theirs and have done 4 tours in Holland with them. To this day, those tours remain my some of my most favorites. Incredible. Here’s a little trailer I put together from some of our shows we’ve done over the years for a foundation called Artists For The Arts - a great foundation that has raises 100’s of thousands of dollars for school music & arts programs in Los Angeles. Co-founded by Venice and Jackson Browne, AFTA has presented so many amazing shows, that we’ve had the pleasure of being the house band for. Thanks to Michael Lennon and all of Venice for creating such an amazing musical experience for such a good cause and for giving all the student musicians over the years for a lifetime of memories. In this clip, a collection from past shows, playing with Billy Idol, David Crosby, Michael McDonald and Richard Page. Enjoy! (click on the image to view the video)
